SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and is the indicator of the level of protection a product has against sunburn, mostly caused by UVB rays. At OLITA, our sunscreens are SPF 15, 30 and 50 to effectively shield against harmful UVA and UVB rays, that can be very damaging to your skin and cause early aging.

Ultraviolet sun rays that are the most damaging to our skin. UVA rays are responsible for premature aging, dark spots and uneven skin tones. UVB rays are more responsible for sunburns. Both UVA and UVB rays can cause skin cancer.

A sunscreen that is FDA approved to provide protection against both the UVA and UVB ultraviolet rays is considered broad spectrum. Sunscreens' active ingredients absorb, scatter or reflect the UV radiation before it reaches the skin.

A sunscreen that uses minerals as its active ingredients. Also known as physical sunscreens, they work by sitting on top of the skin to deflect and scatter damaging UV rays away from the skin. They offer protection against both UVA and UVB rays and protect from the sun as soon as they are applied.

It’s a powdered mineral that sits on top of the skin which acts as a physical sunblock. It protects against both the UVA and UVB rays of the sun. The particles aren’t small enough to penetrate the skin, making it safer for your body.

Organic ingredients in skincare products are certified by a third party to ensure no pesticides, chemical fertilizers or other artificial agents were used in its production. OLITA's certified organic products meet the standards established and regulated by NSF (National Sanitation Foundation). The well-recognized NSF/ANSI 305 certification mark gives consumers the confidence that their personal care products contain at least 70% certified-organic ingredients. The USDA organic program oversees agricultural products and the NSF organic seal is for personal care products. The NSF labeling differs a little from the USDA labeling, but the organic standards themselves (how things are grown and processed) are exactly the same.

The Environmental Working Group recognizes products that meet EWG's strictest standards for your health. EWG rates products on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 being the cleanest and 10 being the most toxic). This means full transparency. This means a mark you can trust. It means EWG approved. OLITA's products are rated #1 in Skin Deep, EWG VERIFIED and in the annual Guide to Safest Sunscreens.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends applying one ounce (about a palm-full) to all exposed skin. And reapply every two hours or after swimming or sweating it off.
